A set of forty-seven minimalist emoticons created by Peter Boughton.
Emoticons don't have to be big bright yellow blobs. I created MiniEmotes for people that prefer a less intense way of expressing emotions.
Here is the current set of 47 emoticons in the five available colours. If there are any emotes missing that you would like to see, feel free to ask.
These emoticons are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 License.
What this means is that you are free to copy, distribute and display the emoticons, but if you want to alter them or use them in your own work, you need to ask me for permission first.
Also, if you do use them I would appreciate a mention in any credits and a link back here.
The emoticons come in three flavours. The best option is the 24-bit PNG, as they can be used against any background. However, for them to display correctly with Internet Explorer 6 and earlier it is necessary to use a transparency hack. If you would rather avoid that, you have a choice of 8-bit PNG sets - one suitable for black/dark backgrounds and the other for white/light backgrounds. Simply select the one most appropriate to the background they will be used with.
